So fly he did....

Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions. Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever.

Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top. When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.

So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed. Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended. But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life!

Vintage, second hand, thrifted...

I will be honest with you ladies, I used to be a bit of a snob when it came to charity shops, second hand ebay finds and vintage. My sister used to buy most of her wardrobe from charity shops when she was a student and I just didnt get it. Her interesting london friends would wear skirts made from curtains which was all a bit too sound of music for me.
But since delving into the world of blogs, the resession and living in Brighton I have a new found love for the great british charity shop, eBay and anything vintage. Yes charity shops smell a bit and are normmaly run by little old ladies who eat worthers behind the counter but you can find some bargins in your local charity shop you just have to have a good look.
With eBay it can be a bit hit and miss, you can't try it on and it never looks like it did on line when it arrives on the mat wrapped in a bin liner crumpled, but at times you get something that you really love and think...Whoop and yey me!!! (well I do anyway) here are some recent pre loved items I have found.
This first dress is vero moda dress via my local charity shop for £5.99 belt charity shop 99p and green bracelet 50p new look sale.
This dress I was origionally from New Look but I got it c/o eBay & I absolutely love it, I first saw it on this blog all about the girl (she has nice style go and do a blog hop and check it out) and I finally won it for £5 after being out bid too many times. Cardigain is also from a charity shop via F&F for £3.50.

And last but not least my vintage St Michael dress.

Two out of three have pockets which is always a major plus for me. Have you bought anything from eBay or a charity shop that you really love?

This post comes from a serial procrastinator and looking at these pictures blogging seemed much more appealing than tidying my very messy bedroom :)
